Glorious Rain

Last Sunday and then again today, have been the only legitimate days of rain since I moved here. And last Sunday as well as today, my spirits have lifted at the sight and feel of rain lightly hitting our parched earth.

Usually I am hoping for a cool, sunny day. It makes trips to the zoo, to the grocery store, to the library, to the park, to the ball game more comfortable and pleasant. But when we lack rain to the point of drought, I begin to pray desperately for rain. Sunny days become brutal and unforgiving. And when the rain finally comes, I breath a sigh of relief and whisper “thank you.”

As soon as this morning’s thunderstorm stops, I want to go out for a run  and hit every puddle I see, remembering how much we need the rain and how thankful I am to see it!

Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving; make melody to our God on the lyre! He covers the heavens with clouds; he prepares rain for the earth; he makes grass grow on the hills. He gives to the beasts their food, and to the young ravens that cry. His delight is not in the strength of the horse, nor in the legs of a man, but the Lord takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love. ~Psalm 147:7-11

Great picture! We are still needing the rain here…
Your verse reminded me of one in Ps 33:18-22 “But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear Him, on those who hope in His unfailing love, to deliver them from death and keep them alive in the famine. We wait in hope for the Lord. He is our help and our shield. In Him our hearts rejoice for we trust in His holy name. May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in you.” Sometimes my life feels like a famine-where are you Lord? And I remind myself of this verse.
God’s blessing on you and your family.

Definitely keep this one for the devotion book that you will be publishing in the future! And be sure to tell your publisher that you MUST have pictures in your book. The illustrations always add so much to your thoughts.
    Love and Prayers., Alice
