Toby graduated! Four years of seminary, done! What a whirlwind adventure it has been! Congratulations my dear, sweet husband!
(FYI -He won’t finish his vicarage until June 30, so the church members are lovingly referring to him as “Pastor Vicar.”)
I realize that this blog announcement is rather late, considering Toby’s graduation ceremony was last month. But I will use the excuse that closing on a house and working with “fuzzbos” (FSBOs – For Sale By Owners) and the daily showings at the townhome (I have never cleaned so much in my life, but don’t look inside the washing machine or the oven or the van), plus, finishing the year at four different schools (seminary for Toby, preschool for me, elementary school for three younger kiddos, and middle school for our eldest) is too much to handle in a two-week period!
And then there is the tale of our closing. Some day, when I have fully recovered from the shock of what it took to get to the closing table this past Friday, I will share a little about the 2am gutter work, the cold feet of the power of attorney (not the buyers), and the almost MIA seller.
The whole experience will eventually be written in Nursery Rhyme and set to the tune of Three Blind Mice. I will call it, Three Closing Men. Closing referring to where we finally met all the men involved in selling us our new home. Three being the amount of men at the closing table (the power of attorney, the seller, and the random third guy). Consequently, random third guy probably saved the day. There is so much to tell you.
But today I leave you with pictures from Pastor Vicar Toby’s seminary graduation. Enjoy!

While at seminary, Toby played soccer. This is one of his best sem friends and teammates (Eric – on the left) and the new sem coach (center), who happens to also have been Toby’s soccer coach in undergrad!
There are so many friends not pictured here because I don’t have all the pics yet! What you don’t see are the pictures from the Papua New Guinean pig roast the next day, all our friends at seminary, Toby’s volleyball match, my mom, and my youngest son! But they were all there and we thank you so much for your part in this chapter of our lives! God’s blessings to all of you, both near and far.
The following link is a video from his graduation, just not sure if you will be able to access the video.

Hard to believe you even had time to write this! Congrats on closing on your home. It sounds like another “badge” earned in this thing called life. 👍 my warrior/survivor friend! 💚
Can’t wait to read Three Closing Men. It sounds like one of those stories you couldn’t make up.
